Dicyclomine HCI Tablets USP

Drug Uses
Bentyl is used to relieve cramps or spasms of the stomach, intestines, and
bladder.
How Taken
Follow your doctor's instructions carefully. Do not take more of it, do not take
it more often, and do not take it for a longer time than your doctor ordered. To
do so may increase the chance of side effects.
Warnings/Precautions
Talk to your doctor if you are or plan on becoming pregnant before taking this
medicine. Check with your doctor before you stop using this medicine . Your
doctor may want you to reduce gradually the amount you are using before stopping
completely. Stopping this medicine may cause withdrawal side effects such as
vomiting, sweating, and dizziness.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of
the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do
not double the dose to catch up.
Possible Side Effects
You may experience the following side effects while on Bentyl treatment:
confusion or memory loss; constipation; difficult urination; drowsiness; dryness
of mouth, nose, throat, or skin; and unusual excitement, nervousness,
restlessness, or irritability.
Storage
Store at controlled room temperature between 15o- 30oC (59o - 86oF). Keep out of
the reach of children.
Overdose
If you suspect an overdose, seek emergency medical attention. The symptoms of a
Bentyl overdose may include: nausea, vomiting, blurred vision, dilated pupils,
hot dry skin, dizziness, dryness of the mouth, difficulty in swallowing.
More Information
This medicine may cause drowsiness or dizziness. Make sure you know how you
react to this medicine before you drive, use machines, or do anything else that
could be dangerous if you are dizzy or are not alert and clearheaded.
Dicyclomine hydrochloride is an antispasmodic and anticholinergic
(antimuscarinic) agent. Dicyclomine hydrochloride occurs as a fine, white,
crystalline, practically odorless powder with a bitter taste. It is soluble in
water, freely soluble in alcohol and chloroform, and very slightly soluble in
ether.
Chemically, it is [Bicyclohexyl-]1-carboxylic acid, 2-(diethylammo) ethyl ester,
hydrochloride. Each capsule, for oral administration, contains 10 mg of
dicyclomine hydrochloride. The chemical formula is C19H35NO2·HCl and its
molecular weight is 345.95, with the following structural formula:
Each tablet, for oral administration, contains 20 mg of dicyclomine
hydrochloride.
This product contains the following Inactive ingredients. colloidal silicon
dioxide (tablets only), corn starch (tablets only), D&C red #28 (capsules only),
FD&C red #40 (capsules only), FD&C blue #1 (capsules only), FD&C blue A1 lake
(tablets only), gelatin (capsules only), hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (tablets
only), lactose monohydrate (tablets only), magnesium stearate (capsules only),
pregelatinired starch, silicon dioxide (capsules only), sodium lauryl sulfate
(capsules only), sodium starch glycolate (tablets only). and stearic acid
(tablets only).
